John Textor and the Rise of Digital Entertainment

John Textor may not be a household name for you or anyone else you know and that is probably okay by him. As it stands, many of the top minds in the world of animation act behind the scenes and off to the side of the stage. Simply put, the guys that work like Textor don’t get the acclaim that they so richly deserve. For John Textor there was a period in time where he was one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood and he is still doing pretty well, as it stands. Let’s take a look at the man’s history before taking a gander at what he is going to do with his future.

John Textor is currently the Chairman of Pulse Evolution Corporation. This is his newest successful venture and the one he most tightly hangs his hat upon. he is the head President of the studio and responsible for some of the biggest partnerships that his company will make in relation to the media world. Sounds pretty intimidating, right? Well, it would be if you didn’t have Mr. Textor’s backlog of success.

Mr. Textor had previously been the head of the company ‘Digital Domain’. He acquired the company back in 2006 and over the next six years turned it into one of the biggest juggernauts in Hollywood. Rarely was there a movie that relied upon digital effects that did not go through his doors. His biggest financial successes were the ‘Transformer’ franchise as well as the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise. Outside of purely fiscal reasons, Textor also reached critical acclaim for the quality of his work. Digital Domain was raking in Academy Award nominations and wins while his competition was left in the dust.

Textor served as the executive producer behind ‘Enders Game’ which starred Ben Kingsley. The film was going to jumpstart a franchise but audiences didn’t latch on. Still, the film was gorgeous. Perhaps Digital Domains biggest accomplishment was their work on the film, ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. In this film Digital Domain rendered out a realistic digital version of an aged Brad Pitt. For an hour of screen time this technological miracle absolutely won the hearts of audiences everywhere. They won a rightful Academy Award for their work.

Now John is the leader of Pulse and his hands are as busy as ever. Where Mr. Textor goes, success is sure to follow. Fans of great cinema should keep aware of what the man is doing.
