Mitchel was later said to have recovered consciousness as she was driven by emergency services to hospital where she currently remains under observation, no details of the cause of her collapse have yet been given.
Canadian singer songwriter Mitchell had recently explained her lack of public appearances as being caused by a controversial and rare disease known as Morgellons Disease. Fans at Anastasia Date have learned that the condition is not recognized by the majority of medical professionals and is characterized by burning and itching sensations beneath the skin. The songwriter claimed in recent interviews that she had not picked up any of the instruments she owns for many years, but hoped to one day return to writing and performing. A number of her fellow musicians took to social media to express their sadness at her hospitalization and medical problems, including Boy George and Billy Idol.
